A former Monocacy Middle School student, Maggie Tighe, recently won a national writing contest sponsored by Target and The Library of Congress. As part of her prize, Maggie was given a $10,000 grant to bestow upon the library of her choice. She decided to give the grant money to the media center here at Monocacy Middle School. We are incredibly excited and grateful to Maggie for this gift. The money will be used to pay for our author visit next year and to add more cool books to the media center.
Monocacy Middle students will have the opportunity to meet a famous author for the 8th year in a row thanks to the generosity of our PTA and Target! Mrs. Mass is the author of such young adult titles as Every Soul a Star, Heaven Looks A Lot Like the Mall, and Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life. Mrs. Mass' books are available to check out and are currently on sale in the media center. Paperbacks are $5.00 and $6.00 depending on the title. 11 Birthdays is in hardcover and is priced at $13.00.
